The Monbou Kaikan is located inside Hongan-ji, the head temple of the Jodo Shinshu school of Buddhism,
located in the Shimogyo ward of Kyoto.
The Monbou Kaikan is a lodging facility mainly intended for disciples of the school who come to worship at the head temple.
The restaurant Ganko Nishi Hongwanji Bettei has now opened in the basement level of the Monbou Kaikan at Nishi Hongan-ji.
We seek to provide a comfortable space and hospitable welcome as a place for tourists visiting Nishi Hongan-ji or the surrounding area to take a break.
